About This Ministry -- By Rev.Elder Freda

I am presently developing a multi-media Living History presentation  to tell the story of the past  55  years of dynamic changes which I have seen, experienced, and shared with others     I have video, audio, and print media to support the telling and re-telling of the incredible journey our community has made.    I am developing DVD's,  CDs, and print material which tells our story.  This is living history to be shared widely before it is lost.

This is a work in progress.

I am available for weekend Spiritual Renewal visits to churches and groups.  These visits  are prayerfully designed to re-energize and renew  the spiritual energy which has brought us to this place in history.  We still have a long ways to go.  We aren't where we need to be -- but praise God -- we're no longer where we were.

"Can you imagine finding yourself in 1951?"   Before Stonewall.   Before the group which would become the Mattachine Society had incorporated.  Before the Daughters of Bilitis was formed. When no church or religious organization was open to us.  When every legal system in  the United States criminalized our love.  And when the medical  world  treated our so -called "insanity" with lobotomies and electric shock . . .

An old Spiritual says it best:
"Draw back the curtain of memory now and then
"Show me where you brought me from
"And where I might have been
"Remember I'm human
"and humans forget
"So remind me
"Remind me
"Yahweh."

And recall  our early days when our message read:
"Your life is God's gift to you
"What you do with it
"Is your gift to God."

Statement of Beliefs

This is our Statement of Faith , as stated in MCC By-Laws, and accepted by our General Conference:

"Christianity is the revelation of God in Jesus Christ and is the religion set forth in the scriptures. Jesus Christ is foretold in the Old Testament, presented in the New Testament, and proclaimed by the Christian Church in every age and in every land.

Founded in the interest of offering a church home to all who confess and believe, Metropolitan Community Churches moves in the mainstream of Christianity.

Our faith is based upon the principles outlined in the historic creeds: Apostles and Nicene.

We believe:

-In one triune God, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, of one substance and of three persons: God - our Parent-Creator; Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God, God in flesh, human; and the Holy Spirit - God as our Sustainer.

-That the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, showing forth God to every person through the law and the prophets, and finally, completely and ultimately on earth in the being of Jesus Christ.

-That Jesus...the Christ...historically recorded as living some 2,000 years before this writing, is God incarnate, of human birth, fully God and fully human, and that by being one with God, Jesus has demonstrated once and forever that all people are likewise Children of God, being spiritually made in God's image.

-That the Holy Spirit is God making known God's love and interest to all people. The Holy Spirit is God, available to and working through all who are willing to place their welfare in God's keeping.

-Every person is justified by grace to God through faith in Jesus Christ.
